Welcome to
Farwest Farms Horse Ranch
New Location

              History

The farm was established in October of 2001 by owner, Joan Haney. Joan and her family moved to Deer Park which is just 15 miles north of Spokane, Washington after her husband, Scott retired from the U.S. Army. They are happy to settle down after living in Europe and many locations in the U.S. Joan grew up in North Carolina (which you might figure out after hearing her speak). She has ridden horses most of her life. Joan trained colts while in high school and attended Meredith Manor Horsemanship College.

Joan has experience working with racing Quarter Horses, Cutting horses, Standardbreds, Endurance, Pleasure, Halter, Reining, Trick Riding and has experience training and leading a bareback bridleless drill team. She took Dressage lessons while living in Germany. Joan operated her own training stable while living in KY. Joan and her daughter Sarah barrel raced in 2004 and 2005.

Joan has ridden in clinics with Judy Myllymaki and Ed Wright. She has taken reining lessons with AQHA World Reining Finalist Brad White. She spent many years training using Natural Horsemanship techniques. Joan and "Casy Bar Lady" won Grand Champion Western Pleasure at the 2005 Spokane Interstate Fair in two age divisions. Sarah and "Sis" were Reserve English Champion at the 2005 Deer Park Fair. Sarah and "Patches" were the English Grand Champions at the Deer Park Fair in 2006. Farwest Farms has youth and adult riders preparing for the 2008 show season. Farwest Farms is home to Farwest Bareback Riders. They are a patriotic bridleless bareback drill team. They practice year round and perform all over the northwest. Come join the fun. Private and group lessons are available.
